Does Cosmetic Tattooing/Microblading hurt?

The level of discomfort is relatively minor. It depends on the individuals pain tolerance. Some liken it to tweezing, some to a small sharp pinch or scratch.

How long does Cosmetic Tattooing/Microblading last?

Generally Microblading lasts six to eighteen months and Powder, Ombre and Hybrid up to three years.

These procedures are not permanent like a tattoo because the pigments are not implanted as deeply into the skin.

Some factors that lead to different Microblading longevity are whether the skin is normal, oily or dry and the

skin age, young or mature. Skincare can also affect the duration of the pigments.

Powder, Ombre and Hybrid Brows are more suited to oily and mature skin.

To maintain the brows, touch ups may be done anywhere from six/ eighteen months or

three years, depending on the chosen style.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for Cosmetic Tattooing/Microblading?

You do not need to do anything in preparation for the procedure unless you are looking at having cosmetic surgery. It is advised not to have cosmetic injections or professional skin treatments near to your Microblading treatment. The recommended time frame is around 4 weeks prior or until your Dr has advised. We also suggest wearing minimal to no makeup on the day of your appointment.

What to expect straight after?

Immediately after Microblading the colour will appear much darker in comparison to when the skin is healed. In a short period of time at around the 7-14 day mark, the colour will lighten up by 40% to 50%. The size of treated area will shrink by 15% and your new brows will look much more natural in appearance. Redness and slight swelling in the area is common after the procedure. Often clients liken the feeling to a slight sunburn.

What to expect during the healing process?

Your new semi-permanent brows will go through several phases during the healing cycle. The pigment can appear very sharp and dark immediately after the procedure. This is because the pigment is still sitting on top of your skin and has not yet settled in completely. The colour of the pigment will soften gradually and the strokes

will become thinner as the skin grows over.

If you see some pigment on the cotton tip when removing your aftercare cream (on reapplication) do not be alarmed, this is excess pigment and or body fluid that is naturally excreting, do not keep wiping as this will remove your strokes. Once the healing of the skin starts the brows will have dandruff like flakes and dry skin. This might give you the impression that the colour pigment is fading, however this is just superficial colour and any dry skin being naturally removed from your eyebrows.

How long does the procedure take?

All Cosmetic Tattooing procedures are 2 to 3-hour appointments. The initial appointment includes a consultation where you are able to ask any questions you have about the process or if you want more information on aftercare.

A brow shape is then mapped onto the skin digitally checked for symmetry and then the actual Cosmetic Tattooing procedure is undertaken. Several passes into the skin may be needed to achieve the desired result.

What do I need to do for aftercare? (for more info, see our aftercare page, select from above)

Aftercare is of the utmost importance, following the aftercare procedure will achieve the best possible results.

We will supply you with aftercare information along with an aftercare pack including a specialized cream.

The aftercare has all the instructions for what you will need to do to take care of your new brows.

Aftercare is a simple process but MUST be followed as described. We cannot stress enough how important it is to follow the aftercare correctly, post treatment care makes 70% of the total treatment success. If the aftercare is not adhered to up to 80% of your strokes can be lost.

No makeup, swimming, spas, saunas or direct water on the treated area for 14 days or until the skin is healed and smooth. The only time you will be able to apply water directly on the area is 30 minutes after the initial procedure, luke warm water on a cotton round or a Phi wipe is used to remove any traces of lymph that the skin has excreted. This is repeated once or as advised, for the first day ONLY.

On the first day you will need to apply the aftercare cream to the treated area every 2 hours, Days 2-14 for normal, dry or for oily and combination skins 3 times per day. Making sure to wipe off any old cream with a damp cotton tip before reapplying, ensuring not to over apply the cream. If the skin is itchy then you are not applying enough cream. The skin wants to look slight glossy, while leaving room to still breath.

How long will it take for my skin to recover?

It usually takes 7-14 days for the skin to heal and become smooth. It takes around 6 to 8 weeks for the pigment to completely settle in and by this time you will be due for a perfection visit, this is where we will re touch and perfect any areas of pigment that haven’t held.

Do I have to shave my own brows to have it done?

No, the strokes are Microbladed in between your own brow hairs. Even if you don’t have a lot of natural brow hair, having some there makes the Microblading look so much more natural. Please note, if you don’t have much natural hair it is recommended to add PhiShading amongst the Microblading.

Do I still have to wax my brows after having the treatment done?

Yes. It is actually still very important to have your brows shaped every 4-6 weeks to keep your Microbladed brows looking perfect. Having them shaped, removing unwanted hairs and having them tinted or coloured with henna will refresh the brows along with the pigment, making them look fresher for longer.
